KJPaul hosts Karaoke at Caffeinated Comics once a month on a Saturday from 4pm-8pm. There is a dedicated group of karaoke singers from the SFKM (San Francisco Karaoke Mafia) that show up for the event and there was a good turn out this month. The Karaoke Insider was there doing a live blog feed during the event.

One of the great thing about this karaoke night is that people challenge each other to stretch their repertoire by instigating “Rock Blocks”. There were 4 Rock Blocks this month: The Eurythmics, Elton John, The Culture Club and The Beatles. Here is the complete karaoke playlist.

Want to become a KJ?

So you want to become a KJ (Karaoke Jockey). Here is a great article in the West Palm Beach Examiner on what it takes.

Glenny Kravitz presents: The 2010 SFKM KARAOKE PROM CRUISE.

We set sail at 6pm on Saturday, May 15, 2010.

It’s karaoke prom time again karaoke addicts. This time I decided to have it “on a motherfriggin boat!” So bring your prom date and your “flippy floppies because this ain’t Sea World this is as real as it gets.”

This is a karaoke prom on a boat on the bay…how could it not be great. Dress in your crazy prom bestest and have a blast. The will be 2 floors of action on the boat with a full bar on board. Lots of karaoke acts and ridiculous fun…if you have not been to an SF Karaoke Mafia event, you are in for quite a treat. If you are logged into Facebook you can see who is attending and lot others know you plan to attend on the Facebook event.

Purchase tickets here

Karaoke will be on the main floor upstairs with rotating KJ’s Glenny Kravitz, Paul Dejong and Kendo. The lower deck will be reserved as a lounge area with an additional karaoke station to ensure you get your reps in for the night. DJ Billtron will also be spinning the funky beats in the lounge area for those who want to dance.

So you better start planning on who you will bring to prom and what outfit you will be sporting. Hint: for those who missed the first karaoke prom. Rebecca Perry stole the show with her pregnant prom outfit complete with fabricated 9 month belly poking out of the dress. Get creative and be prepared for picture taking.

Boarding time: 6:30 pm May 15, 2010
Cruise time 7-10pm
Location: 525 Embarcadero West Oakland Ca 94607 (Behind Bevmo)

Afterparty: I’m thinking that many of you will still want to party around 11pm. I’ve chosen (Heinold’s first and last chance Saloon) 48 Webster St.
Walking distance from the boat in Jack London Square. Afterparty people should gather near BevMo after the boat returns.

There is a safe parking garage nearby with very reasonable rates. Carpooling is highly recommended.

Parking Garage: 101 Washington Street (only 1 block away from the ferry location)

Here is a description of the boat:

KJPaul scored the ultimate air guitar while strolling down Valentia Street Sunday April 25th while on the way to Dolores Park. There were a bunch of sidewalk sales happening on Valentia Street that day, mostly cloths, books and knickknacks, but the corner of 21st and Valencia was the ultimate prize; a Jaminator!

The Jaminator is a late 80′s version of Guitar Hero a little before its time. It is the ultimate Air Guitar. It lets you play lead guitar riffs on top of well-known songs. There are cartridges that store songs and riffs in ROM; each cartridge contains five songs, a few digitized instruments, and dozens of riffs. The riffs are selected by holding down a fret button with your left hand and tapping one of the string buttons with your right hand. It will then play a lead guitar riff that is harmonious with the selected song. There are also drum pads and a small keyboard if you want to spread your talents around.

It makes an amazingly beautiful air guitar. It feels amazing in your hands and is just down right fun to play.

You can see more photos of the Jaminator in action in the KJPaul jaming on the Jaminator blog post on the SF KJ Paul Karaoke blog.

I had a sneaky suspicion that there was some link between Atari games and the Jaminator. One of the many clues was the phone jack sync. Low and behold, one Google search later and the proof was found! Worlds of Wonder or WoW, the creator of the Jamintor was a founded by former Atari employees!

The Jaminator also make the ultimate air saxophone and the girls will go crazy when you play it!

And if you decide that you absolutely need a Jaminator of your very own, you can buy one online for a mere £120- at Jaminator.com.

Kestrin Pantera and Jonathan Charles Grubb, founders of the RVIP Lounge & Karaoke were married amongst family, friends and plenty of fanfare, first in Carmel and then again at Flora Grubb Gardens, in San Francisco, April 2-3, 2010.
